The Green Room Xmas Gig, Portman Hotel, Bournemouth - 23rd December 2005

By the time Jak the Lad hit the stage at around 9.30pm, The Green Room was full of expectant audience members.  The main lounge bar area also seem to be pretty full with an apparent mix of Portman regulars and people that had come specifically to see the band.

Mossy wasted no time in introducing Jak the Lad, then the band struck hard, straight into a thumping version of the Georgia Satellites number "Battleship Chains".  This seemed to go down pretty well with the assembled masses and it was clear that the party was starting.  By the middle of their first set, the band had much of the audience up and dancing.  JTL guitarist, John excelled himself with particularly fine axe-work during Peter Green / Santana classic "Black Magic Woman", and Mossy had the girls dancing, smiling and blushing with raunchy re-interpretations of some famous rock songs.

At the end of the first set we were treated to a great version of "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).  The second set featured some classic 60s and 70s tracks including "Jumpin' Jack Flash"

Jak the Lad played 3 sets in all, and were on stage in total for more than 2 hours.  At the end of their third set, the audience would not let them go, so a further 3 songs including a rocked up version of The Kinks number "All Day And All of The Night" closed the evening in style.  What a fine evening of fun to start the Christmas holidays.  Big thanks Lads.  See you soon again I hope.
